After having taken a pretty long break from giving icon painting workshops, I’m happy to say I’m back on track and arranging, not one, but two workshops this summer! I know people in the South of England are often imploring me to do a workshop down south, but the fact of the matter is that the place I use at the moment here in the North West is perfect. St Joseph’s Prayer Centre in Formby is great because it has plenty of accommodation, room to work in, three meals a day, a little prayer chapel, and a beach within easy walking distance which you can get to by walking through the red squirrel sanctuary.
The prices of my workshops include all materials (some of which you can take home), accommodation and food - all you have to do is get yourself there and back. I have yet to finalize the details regarding cost and dates but I wanted to ask for your feedback before I go ahead and start making plans… so which is best for you? Early July, or late August, or some other date?
Also, please note I do not take on more than six, or maximum seven, students at a time, because when there are more than that I simply cannot dedicate enough attention to each student. So once the dates and costs have been finalized I’ll send out a newsletter here and then it’s matter of first come first serve, (with a 10% discount, and a little bonus prize for early-bird registration). Sound good? Stay tuned…
Website Up and Running
I have finally redone my website and it is fully operational; take a look HERE. The website showcases some of my work over the past few years, including many encaustic icons (as labeled under the image), and several pictures from the walls of the Romanian church in South Africa which I painted about six years ago. As seen in the portfolio it turns out I get a whole lot more commissions for saints than I do for Christ and His mother.
PS:
Oh! and one last thing: my substack is FREE! I have seen Substack has apparently emailed some of my subscribers asking them to upgrade to a paid subscription. I have no idea what that is all about - just please ignore it! You do not have to pay anything for my writing but a little time, and to say a prayer for me and my family.
Wishing you all a very blessed Lent further! Hang in there.

Hi! August would have suited me better too! Further thoughts of a setting in Northern or Southern Ireland?
